Discussions on the revision of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese’s Charter continued on Thursday, August 3, as His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America held virtual forums with clergy from the Metropolises of Pittsburgh and Denver.

Today, July 7, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America met with the Metropolis of Chicago Clergy Syndesmos for an open forum on the proposed revisions to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese's Charter. His Eminence has also recently held virtual meetings with clergy from the Archdiocesan District and the Metropolises of Boston, New Jersey, and Detroit.

I would like to thank all of you for coming today, and for the gracious and fraternal welcome by His Eminence. This Syndesmos gathering has one significant purpose: to present to you my thoughts on the process leading to a revised Charter, and for you to ask questions in a free and open forum of dialogue. In the sanctity of our spiritual relationship – as brothers committed to the Church – I am hopeful that our dialogue and discussion can lead us to a sense of solidarity. I will make my introductory remarks from a text, as I wish to be very precise and not misunderstood.

On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America met virtually with clergy from the Metropolis of Detroit for an open dialogue about the proposed revisions to the Charter of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese. This is the fourth meeting of its kind following last month’s virtual sessions with clergy from the Archdiocesan District and the Metropolises of Boston and New Jersey

Today His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros presided over a special meeting of the Holy Eparchial Synod which was convened through videoconference.

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, as a member of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, participated in its deliberation, which was convened on the 29th and 30th of May under the leadership of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. This regular session brought significant decisions for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
